the beginning

Silver Lake Home Center started life in 1982 as Silver Lake Hardware. Owned and operated by Joan and John Sherwood, the store built a solid foundation in the community offering quality hardware, friendly, knowledgeable service and, by 1985, a full line of building materials. Over the years, contractors and do-it-yourself builders came to rely on their lumber yard, custom mill work, and know-how.

In 2003, the company officially became Silver Lake Home Center. Now a full-service home center, Silver Lake Home Center is able to offer extensive home building project development and a wide range of lumber, millwork, paint, hardware, kitchen, flooring, door and window, and other home improvement products to both contractors and residential homeowners.

In keeping with their goal of "helping builders build better", Silver Lake Home Center embarked on a complete renovation of the store, starting with the Marvin Windows and Doors Showroom and finishing with new contractor product lines and in-store merchandising. All showrooms are in a "real home" setting to help customers visualize how products will look and function in their home.
